SERVICES Caprice Christian Appalachian Project - In most of the Appalachian counties, after their public education is completed, there are few resources for adults with disabilities. CAPRICE is an acronym for CAPs Resources for Independence in Community and Employment, and through this program we seek to provide the resources that will allow adults with disabilities to be seen as contributors in their home, in their community, and in employment. The services offered by CAPRICE are provided in three phases. Within the First Phase a staff member works with the participant in his or her own home on self help skills. The family and participant are heavily involved in setting their short and long term, goals.
The Third Phase of service is Supported Employment. As dictated by the goals set by the participant and their family, staff begins the process of completing an interest inventory and job profile with the participant. When a job is found, staff works side by side the participant until they can complete the tasks on their own without assistance. Staff will then make weekly visits to offer support as needed. CAPRICE also sponsors additional support activities for the families that include retreats, training, and a parent support group. |
